James Morris, Chair of the Unley Road Association, welcomed special guests, Rotarians, association members and their employees. Special guests included the Small Business Commissioner John Chapman, State MP for Unley David Pisoni, Deputy Mayor Don Palmer, AG Tim Klar, and Small Business Award Sponsor Kerry-Anne Jenkins.
Jerry Casburn provided a neat summary and video of what Rotary is all about......he should be in sales!

Small business faces huge challenges with the truckloads of laws and regulations with which they must comply. The real challenge with which she can assist is converting chaos into order.
Small Business Commissioner John Chapman outlined the incentives being offered by the State Government to employ more people and referred owners and managers to the Revenue SA website. More attention is now being paid to help small businesses and councils work together for their mutual benefit. The Small Business Commission will help resolve business to business disputes eg between landlord and tenant.

For those of us who are moving up the age scale, the Active Ageing Award provided by the Unley City Council for those businesses making a special effort to cater for senior citizens does have special meaning................and the winner was Chique Cosmedical Skin and Solutions represented by Kym Papp
For the Small Business Awards, commendations were give to the two runners up, namely Chique (Kym Papp) and Dare Hair (Rachel and Paul).
The winner of the Small Business Award was Barrow and Bench Mitre 10 ....... due to absence at another event the award was accepted on their behalf by Rose Linh-Li of the Association ........ see across

Rotary helps wildfire victims
Rotary members are mobilizing to help provide relief as wildfires continue to rage throughout California.
More than 220,000 acres have been scorched as wildfires continue to rage. To date, 32 people have been confirmed dead.
The Rotary 5130 Fire Relief Fund is now accepting cash donations to support those in Napa, Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties.
“The magnitude of the devastation that is occurring right now in the North Bay and wine county is vast and far reaching. The recovery and rebuild is going to be a long process but we are confident that we can lead the way in bringing these communities back. Rotarians know how to get things done and won’t stop until we reach the finish line,” said Bob Rogers, Rotary 5130 District Governor.
The Rotary 5130 Fire Relief Fund is administered by Rotarians and supports a multitude of areas of need as identified, including but not limited to; small business grants, housing, shelter support, grief counseling, unmet needs and any other assistance to the businesses and residents that have been displaced by this tragedy.
