Speaker: Jo Baxter Come and hear from Jo, our member about the Rotary Action Group's Activities. Substance abuse and addiction of illicit drugs is a global problem and can only be addressed by the joint efforts of all worldwide organizations including governments. In a combined, structured and sustained action, the mission of the Rotarian Action Group for Addiction Prevention is to strengthen those efforts by organizing an international group of Rotary specialists and activists to develop constructive plans of action to be used to initiate prevention of addiction and illicit drugs. Within Rotary the group will work to inform, stimulate, support and advise clubs and districts how to tackle the problem in a structural long-term manner, with vision and a strategy. They will offer Rotarians a quarterly newsletter, website and opportunities to interact and share ideas for awareness and prevention at conferences and conventions. |

Leanne Hill from Workforce Australia will present Labour Market and Workforce challenges Leanne's role is funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and the intent is to be a conduit for businesses, community, employment agencies and training organisations to essentially find local solutions. Each region has a local jobs and skills taskforce who help inform the priorities in the region. Leanne's Taskforce is made up of key stakeholders from across the region. These Taskforce inform the key priorities, which are outlined in a Local Jobs plan, which is regularly reviewed. Leanne's region (Adelaide South) encompasses 17 council areas from Prospect to KI. The presentationwill be around current labour market, potential solutions and different ideas around workforce challenges and some information about other avenues they may not have thought of including particular incentives and subsidies they may be eligible for. Leanne is an Unley local - and works closely with the team at the Council. |
